Celebrating Our Mothers
WE WANT TO TAKE A MOMENT TO RECOGNIZE an important figure in all of our lives—our mothers!
We’re grateful for all of the time, attention, and care our mothers provide for us throughout our upbringing and beyond. The positive impact they have is immeasurable, and we want to express what they mean to us this Mother’s Day.
What We Love About Our Moms
Question: What do you love most about your mom?
Dr. Downing: My mom always put our needs first. It wasn't until after many years of adulthood that I was able to recognize her sacrifices. I feel that those sacrifices protected me from many common life mistakes and made a much, much better person than I would have become on my own.
Victoria: My mom was patient, and her unconditional caring ways always comforted me!
Beatriz: What I love most about my mother is her sense of humor and that we can joke about anything.
Carolina: That she's the most loving and caring person. I love her so much. I know that I will always be able to count on her to always be by my side.
Jackie: I love EVERYTHING about my mom!! She is perfect to me! <3 :)
Rosie: Everything but mostly when she spoils me and cooks my favorite meals.
Dr. Jones: She is very kind and considerate and cares more about the needs of others than her own.
Alexis: My mom is amazing. She will always continue to be a role model for me. Someone I have always looked up to and know that I will never be as good as. She has sacrificed so much for my sisters and me without complaint. Mom never imposes her will, she has always allowed for self-discovery and plays devil advocate to ensure the whole picture is in view. She's more than the greatest mom, she is my best friend.
Question: What is one of your favorite memories with your mom?
Dr. Downing: My favorite memory of my mom is catching glances of her kneeling by her bed in prayer in the dark. Her silent example in this and other aspects of life taught me more powerfully than anything she could ever teach me verbally.
Victoria: Every morning when I hug my kids and tell them to have a good day, I remember how loving my mom was with me.
Beatriz: When she celebrated my quinceañera. All the work that she put into making it a very special day for me.
Carolina: When I was 15 years old, she took me to explore the popular volcanoes of Nicaragua. She also took me snorkeling at Clear Lagoon in Managua.
Jackie: Too many to name, but one in particular is when we took a trip to Mexico and had a lot of bonding time together. :)
Rosie: I have so many, but the favorite one is when she was with me during my first daughter's birth, holding my hand and encouraging me.
Dr. Jones: Delivering food and presents to needy families at Christmas.
Alexis: A more recent favorite of mine is when I got married and the emotional hug that we shared.
