Dad - Be a Dental Superhero!

According to researchers at Rey Juan Carolos University of Madrid, dads who are afraid of going to the dentist are likely to pass this fear unto his children.

"Although the results should be interpreted with due caution, children seem to mainly pay attention to the emotional reactions of the fathers when deciding if situations at the dentist are potentially stressful," said study co-author Professor America Lara-Sacido.

And here are some tips to become a dental superhero for your little fans:

  • Stay up-to-date with your dental care

  • Remain relaxed in the dentist office, especially in front of the kiddos

  • Keep your children's dental care up-to-date and start visiting the dentist as soon as teeth begin to appear (make sure the first dental visit is made by the first birthday)

  • Never use a dental office visit as a punishment or threat

  • Never bribe your child

  • Talk to your child about the dentist office in order to prepare them and allow them to open up

  • Consider making your children's appointments in the morning when they tend to be rested and cooperative

Happy Father's Day!
