Going Back to School with a Smile!

August 9, 2016

Summer break is almost over!

Did you know that oral disease causes kids in the United States to miss 51 million school hours?

Whether you are required to complete a dental examination form for your child's school or not, now is a great time to get your kids in to see the dentist! Need some reasons why?

1. Have your kids get a proper cleaning after eating those summer sweets! A good dental cleaning removes all the built-up plaque.

2. Prevent tooth decay now. Tooth decay is the most common chronic childhood disease! If left untreated, tooth decay can impair a child's ability to eat, speak, sleep, and learn. Tooth decay also leads to hours of missed school time. Routine dental cleanings is a great preventive measure, and the dentist may also use fluoride and sealant treatments.

3. The school-age years is a time of great change in the mouth. Routine dental visits allow for the dentist to properly examine your child's mouth as it transitions from baby teeth to adult (permanent) teeth. The dentist always looks for any dental problems, whether you realize there's one or not!

4. Have your kids look their best on their way back to school, especially for those school pictures!

Since now is such a great time for kids to be seen, don't wait until the last minute to schedule your child's visit!

Need some tips on how to make your child's next dental appointment go well? Check out this great video from Colgate!

Give your child the best smile possible for going back to school!
