Dr. Downing was born in southern California but raised in a military family that moved every few years. He has lived in Germany, Panama, and Peru, as well as 6 U.S. states. Following in his father's footsteps, Dr. Downing currently serves as a dentist in the Army Reserve.
Dr. Downing served two years as a missionary in Peru where he became fluent in Spanish. He loves Latino culture, food, and music.
He graduated from Kansas State University in 2010 with a degree in Biology, and Dr. Downing attended dental school at Midwestern University in the Chicago area.
While living in Chicago, Dr. Downing met and married his wife, Caitlin. Both are talented musicians - Dr. Downing plays piano and organ while his wife plays flute and piano. Their first child was born in December (2015).
During dental school, Dr. Downing began searching for practice opportunities in Iowa, and he was excited to be able to join Hintz Family Dentistry in July 2015. His goal is to make dentistry a positive experience that is centered on the needs of each patient.
Dr. Downing is considered a Spanish interpreter and translator according to the American Dental Association (ADA).
